A home energy audit by Lantern Energy can inform you on the most cost-effective strategies to home energy improvement. Our audit identifies what needs to be done, the order in which it should occur and the financial tools available to assist in the process. The process helps locate problem areas in your building structure and hvac systems and suggests solutions for reducing energy consumption. A Certified Building Performance Institute (BPI) professional will perform the audit. Measurement tools such as blower doors, duct blasters and infrared cameras will be used to assess the complete energy efficiency of the home. At the time of the audit the homeowner will be asked a series of questions to ascertain an energy behavioral profile.

Lantern Energy believes that in some cases the greatest energy reduction can occur by simple changes in behavior with no monetary investment whatsoever. A preliminary review of alternative energy applications such as solar photovoltaic, solar thermal and geothermal will be assessed. While most homes can be retrofitted with alternative energy measures some are considerably more suitable, thus lowering the cost of installation and improving efficiency. Information gathered during the audit will be carefully analyzed in the week following the site visit. A customized and comprehensive roadmap will be provided to the homeowner, including an environmental impact assessment. As a result of the audit you will be better informed to select the most appropriate measures to improve the comfort and safety of your home, reduce energy costs and lower your impact on the environment.
