CT Plans to Increase Electric Vehicles on the Road

Install a Commercial or Residential EV Charging Station

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection created a plan to have 10 times the amount of electric vehicles on the road by 2025. This would increase the number of electric vehicles from 12,500 to 125,000.

Preparation will need to include an expansion in charging infrastructure. Connecticut has over 360 public EV charging stations. This number needs to rise to support the 2025 electric vehicle goal.

Commercial Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Lantern Electrical works with the top EV charging manufacturers such as Tesla, ChargePoint, JuiceBox, Juice Bar, Clipper Creek, and EVSE. Lantern installs EV charging stations for retail businesses, office buildings and multi-family buildings. Level 2 and Level 3 DC charging stations are installed to provide fast charging and meet commercial needs.

There are benefits to installing a commercial EV charging station. EV charging will put your location on the map, showcase your green initiative, and attract eco-conscious residents and customers.

Residential Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Lantern also installs private home EV charging stations. Lantern installs Level 1 and Level 2 charging stations. Level 1 chargers work off 110-volt 20-amp outlets, which are standard in all homes. Level 2 chargers operate off 240-volt and 40-amp circuits, so they must be installed by a professional. Level 2 chargers are more efficient adding about 25 miles of range per hour.

The Lantern Electrical team will assess your electrical panel and make upgrades needed to accommodate a charging station. The charging station will be installed in your garage or outside. The team can trench and install a pedestal charger if needed. Smart EV charging stations are also available. These wifi-enabled charging stations allow you to set your charging schedule, get reminders and track charging costs all through a smart phone app.

Financing is Available

There are state and local incentives for installing an EV charging station. Incentives include low interest financing or rebates, call us to discuss what is available in your area.

Incentives and rebates are also available for purchasing electric vehicles. There is $3 million in state rebates for electric car purchasers. The Connecticut Electric Vehicle Coalition is advocating for the state to increase funding for rebates. The Connecticut EV Coalition believes the fund needs to increase to meet the 2025 goal.
